Snow and Songs

Last Saturday we finally received snow in central Iowa and it was AWESOME snow for playing in, building with and sledding in!! Saturday afternoon Mike and the kids spent a lot of time playing in the snow (I was busy getting ready for an evening out with Mike----had to doll myself up! ha ha!). Sunday afternoon we all went sledding at the very popular sledding hills, also known as Waveland Golf and Country Club in the summer months. We had a blast sledding. It was so much fun. I didn't have my camera, but I wish I would of remembered it!

Playing in the snow Beautiful snow covered tree across the street.

Building an igloo.

Stella built this snowman all by herself and she was very proud! (And a little mad that Porter got to be in the photo with her, when she did all the work!!)

The finished igloo. Crappy photo b/c it was from my cell phone. The kids had come inside and gotten cleaned up and warmed up and Mike was still outside making the igloo. Stella saw how awesome it was and had to get her snow gear all back on to go out and play again!

Friday afternoon Stella's class had their First Grade Informance. They don't have a "true" spring concert, instead they put on this show for us. It was very cute! They sang 7 or 8 little songs, most with motions to them and some had little musical pieces like bells and stuff. She's in the front row second from the right. For those of you who know Michelle (Rychnovsky) Potthoff her daughter, Abby, is in the front row on the far left in the red dress. Friday was Mission Jeans Day which is why most of them were not in uniforms. (If you bring a $1 in on Mission Jeans day the student does not have to wear their uniforms. The money is donated to a different charity each month).

This was cute, it was the Miss Mary Mack, Mack, Mack. All dressed in black, black, black.... song brought me back to my elementary school days!

Dancing and switching partners. Then they got to pick a person from the audience to bring up and dance with. Lucky me....Stella picked me! Good thing Mike didn't take any photos of that! ha ha :)

Friday Night Fun

We've had a fun Friday night here in the Davidson household! First Porter brought home "The Curious George Bag" from preschool and he got to take pictures of George being curious and getting into things. Then he had to record it in the Curious George book and will take it back to school on Monday. Each child gets a turn having George visit their home and it was really fun looking through the book to see what George has been up to in all the other children's homes!

George had to try out Porter's new skateboard and helmet, of course!

Then he wanted to play with Rex!

Tonight was a Daddy Daughter Dance at the Blank Park Zoo. Mike and some of his friends went to the dance together. Stella was very excited about getting dressed up and going out with her dad. Mike said the girls were VERY wound up!!

Porter and I went to hang out with my friends and their boys and we had a fun night of watching the boys wrestle and chatting with my girlfriends. We weren't so dressed up, but we still had a great time!

Big Milestone!!

We've been having an absolutely amazing weather week in Iowa this week! So much so that I've had Porter out the last 3 days riding his bike....with no training wheels!! Who would of thought he'd learn to ride two wheels in Iowa in January!! He's very proud as are we! :)

Riding bikes with Stella is fun!

My big boy! This same day I also registered him for kindergarten and he also slept for the first night without a pull-up on! So many achievements in one day! Way to go, Porter!! :)

Winter Games 2012

We traveled north to Okoboji for their Annual Okoboji Winter games. This is just the second time we've attended and it was a fun time! :) We went two years ago for the first time and that particular winter was freaking COLD! We are (much to our delight!) enjoying a very mild winter here in Iowa, the only down fall to this is not as much ice and snow on the lake. Which meant, many of the winter game events had to be moved off the ice. We still played a lot on the lake and the weather was very pleasant, in the high 20's/low 30's with not too much wind.

Vada sitting in a box, wearing a paper crown.....pretty much looks like something her mama would of been doing at the same age! Porter and his buddy, Eric. Eric and his family joined us for the winter games this year and brought along their 3 snowmobiles which we all enjoyed!

Mike on West Lake Okoboji.

Walking out on the lake is always fun!

Me, behind the wheel of a snowmobile for the first time, and Hannah was brave enough to ride with me! :)

Stella taking a snowmobile for a ride. The kids loved having a kids sized snowmobile! I didn't get a pic of Porter driving, but he loved it as well!

5 of the 6 Watson grandchildren: Porter, Stella, Vada, Hannah and Haydn. Maybe Isla will be in attendance next year!! :)
Vada had spent the week in Iowa (she hails from Raleigh, NC) and spent the night with us last week. The kids had a great time playing with her.

Ready for bed time! Surprisingly, they all slept the entire night together in Stella's room.

Vada has a "thing" about her "bee-bo" (belly button) and love to poke/play with it while sucking her thumb. Anna even had to cut a slit into her pj's in order for Vada to access her belly button. Here she is showing me the bee-bo access! LOL!

Giving Porter some love.

The next morning before school (I did comb P's hair after this photo!!).
