September update

We are finally getting into our school groove. Stella has Girls on the Run on Mon and Wed and does an art class on Tues. Porter does flag football on Tues and Thurs with a game on Sat.

We have season tickets for the ISU FB games this year. The first game of the season was so insanely hot. It was miserable, yet a lot of fun if that makes any sense at all. The kids pretty much stayed in the back of a van with the sliding doors open and hatch up....welcoming the occasional breeze. iPads were a hit this day! But it was just too hot to be in the sun. It was a night game. Got to the tailgate at 11 and the game started at 7.

The ISU marching band came through our tailgate!

Sooo hot. Rubbing an ice cube on his head to stay cool!

We tailgate with other peeps from SFA. We randomly ran into another SFA parent that day and he had access to the sidelines. So we all took turns taking a child down to the sidelines to experience the game from there. Well our FB team wasn't that great (!!!), but did run into our basketball team in the front row!! I made P stand in front of them to snap a pick. If only Freddy Hoiberg was there! Wahhhhh!

Team Spirit Day at school....gearing up for the big Iowa State vs Iowa game! P is still a Hawk. Boo!

Kathryn, Stella, Averie, Berlin chilling during our Wii planning party. More on the Wii party next month.

The next morning we were up bright and early headed to Ames for the big game. We all meet up at someone's house and follow each other up so we can tailgate together. Stella and Averie wanted to ride together. They were watching Scooby Doo and holding hands. Cuteness!

Tailgating.

Our friend made a "shot ski," miniature red solo cups glued to a ski. Brilliant! Ha!

Porter.....odd man out!

Lots of cardinal red and gold!!!

Unfortunately, we lost! Boohoo!! But our little guy was PUMPED UP!!!!

Rex looking ready for a fist fight!  He loves to lay on papers...newspapers we are trying to read, homework the kids are trying to complete, etc. Crazy cat! I'm Home & School president elect (will be the pres next year), I was going over papers from our meeting that day. Not sure what I'm getting myself into.....

Stella's Scholastic book order came in and she loved the skeleton hand book light that came with her scary books.

My P-man!

Last Friday night we found ourselves on The Big Yellow Bike and bar hoping to a few spots downtown. One bar had a "shot ski!" I'd didn't realize these were a thing! I thought our friend Spencer was just very clever. I admit that I live under a rock!

Pedaling between bars.

To give you an idea what the Big Yellow Bike looks like.

Next morning was the Beaverdale parade! Always a favorite start to fall for us. Mark and Ken are so gracious and their lawn was full of family and friends this year.

We finally met Joan's adorable twin boys, Leo and Levi! Best behaved babies I've ever met!!! Not kidding!

Seriously cute baby overload!

Dad wearing an ISU shirt, he should lose the hat, tho! All silliness aside, he was wearing the shirt to honor our dear family friend, Tom Austin who passed away this pass July. His family held a celebration of life in his honor the afternoon of Beaverdale days. What a great testament to Rowin' Tommy it was!

Rex hanging out in the doll buggy. He's got his bags packed and everything. Hahaha!

So our good friends Jeff and Lucy looked after our kids when we went to Vegas and we looked after theirs for a few days while they went to Oktoberfest. It was a little tricky having a 3 night sleepover during the school week, but I was not above bribing the kids to actually sleep at night. One reward was a treat from Rita's after school one day. Stella and Berlin's mutual bestie Ally came home with us from school that day and enjoyed the reward as well!

School pictures also happened to fall on the dates J & L were out of town. Getting 5 kids ready for school pics can be stressful! But they were all happy with their looks, except EJ (the little girl) did NOT like the sweater Lucy picked for her to wear for pics!!! She was till complaining about it when I picked her up from school that day, but I think she looks adorable!

And, lastly, this was Stella today after picking her up from Girls On The Run! Soooo hot! She ran 4 miles in this 86 degree weather! Luckyfor her the cold front is moving in and fall weather will be there tomorrow!! Yay! Fall is my favorite season. Can't wait for the cooler temps!

Love the update! That's great you have season tix. I laughed at your "empty tailgate" comment, I did somehow manage to get pictures that looked like we were on a deserted island. Rest assured, there were thousands of peeps out celebrating the beloved Hawks that day : ) Would love to have been at Beaverdale Days with you. Hope S is enjoying the running group. Good luck with running the pto next year!!!
